BY CAR: FROM THE NORTH A3 MOTORWAY GET “LAMEZIA TERME” EXIT AND CONTINUE ON THE E90 DIRECTION “CATANZARO”. GET THE EXIT “GERMANETO-VERSANTE IONICO” DIRECTION “REGGIO CALABRIA” UNTIL S. ANDREA APOSTOLO DELLO IONIO.

Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio is located on the Jonian side of Calabria in the lower county of Catanzaro, overlooks the Gulf of Squillace and has a territory that spreads from sea level up to 1.071 m of altitude, with a 4 Km sea Coastal. The sea level is flat and characterized by citrus and olive trees; the Hill level is characterized by olive trees, vineyards and vegetable gardens, the mountain level is very well preserved and represents a natural heritage with its chestnut, holm-oak and beech woods. The hill torrent areas of Alaca and Salubro are immersed in a pure ecological balance filled with tiny natural waterfalls and rich of natural appeal (in the area there is a great presence of old watermills). Sea water is extremely clean and clear, beaches are white sand and very wide. S. Andrea Jonio Centro Storico e S. Andrea Jonio Marina are the two town centres. The first one is striking and very well preserved medieval village full of narrow streets and roads some of which are still made of granite slabs. The location of the village is simply splendid overlooking the sea and with the mountains at the back that represent the door of the “Serre” Mountain area. The village is set on top of three hills, it is a real terrace overlooking the beach which represented in ancient times a great defensive against the raids of the Saracen army while today shows more than 12 natural terraces cultivated with olives and citrus trees. Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio is placed on the Gulf of Squillace and in the brightest and clearest days it is even possible to spot one of the Gulf’s ends “Punta Stilo”. The coastal side of the village is a very well organized urban centre with large roads, gardens, sporting centres and completely surrounded by olives and citrus trees. The weather is typical Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers, thus fits also for health stay at the seaside. With Leisure resorts, several privately managed beaches and many restaurants and pizzerias Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio is one of the most sought after locations of the coast!
